3. Approval of the Minutes from Feb. 13, 2012: Minutes required an amendment.

Under Principal and Vice-Principal’s Update, item D should read:
“There will be two Grade 4 extended French programs for 2012-2013. The year after that there will be one Grade 4 extended French class and two Grade 5 extended French classes, etc. The year after that there will be one Grade 4, one Grade 5 and two Grade 6s. In this way the school will only need one extra classroom.”
Minutes approved with amendment.
Motion: Sarah-Jane Gillespie. Seconded: April Moon.

4. Principal and Vice-principal’s update:
A. The Safe Schools Committee is conducting a walk-through of the school grounds on April 5, 2012 (a time is still to be determined but it will take place during the day). Allan would like at least two parents to attend. A caretaker will also be present.
The school administration has addressed the issues that were identified at last year’s walk-through.

B. Tanya Sterioff, a former principal at Wilkinson, passed away March 18, 2012. Her obituary was in the Toronto Star on March 21. A celebration of her life took place at Mount Pleasant Cemetery Visitation Centre on Sunday March 25.
C. Staffing numbers for the 2012-2013 school year have been delayed. Allan will update us at the next council meeting.
D. The Spring Concert is taking place on May 3, starting at 6 pm.
E. Sports teams and extracurricular activities are going ahead.
F. From Leasa Adams: Local author, Rukhsana Khan, will be visiting the school in May (date to be determined). She will give five presentations for the Kindergartens to Grade 6s.

5. Treasurer’s Report: Parent Council’s account balance is $17,607.

6. Funding Requests: Susan Haney asked for $120 for two coffee carafes for Movie Night.
Side note: Starbucks is no longer supplying coffee. But the coffee shop the One in the Only on Danforth near Donlands has offered to supply Movie Night with coffee, milk and cups. But it did not have carafes big enough for the amount of coffee we’ll need.
Council approved funding.
Motion: Kirsten McGoey. Seconded: Kris Kearns.

7. Dandylion Daycare: Sarah Hoac says the Centre has five vacancies in the After School-Age Program (ASAP) room. The ASAP room is for children in Grades 4-6. Parents are asked to contact Patrina Stathopoulos or Sarah Hoac at (416) 469-0091 or via e-mail dandylion@bellnet.ca.

8. Sweetheart Bake Sale: Paula Weekes-Kahn thanked everyone who helped to make the event the most successful one ever.

9. Committee Updates:
A. Arts: Comedian, speaker and disability activist, Alan Shain, is performing on April 18. Shain has cerebral palsy and aims to “smash” stereotypes people have.

B. Communications: Chair Jill Spellman said the website review will be covered at the next council meeting.

C. Education: Bipasha Choudhury will update council on a possible event at the next council meeting.

D. Fundraising:
Movie Night:
The next Movie Night is March 23. Martin Saxton is stepping in for Susan Haney and will arrive early. He’s offered to head up the next three movie nights.
*Volunteers are always needed and most welcome!*
Side note: Movie Nights have become more successful and that’s all due to the families who come out to support the event.
April 20 will likely be the next Movie Night.

Fun Fair: Fun Fair is taking place on May 26, 2012. April Moon, who is chairing the event, held the first planning meeting early in March. There are many new leads this year.
For the April newsletter: Include a Fun Fair teaser, a shout out for Canadian Tire money to help with the purchase of tents, and a shout out for VOLUNTEERS.

E. Greening: Chair Kirsten McGoey and her family are moving to Whitby this summer. She’s no longer able to head up this committee.
The Kindergarten play area art installation that she was working on is almost complete. BUT she does need help to wrap it up. She’s especially looking for volunteers to paint – no talent required.
Sarah Hoac of Dandylion Daycare suggested her older students might be able to help.
Paula Weekes-Kahn suggested speaking with John Hykel, a former parent at Wilkinson and someone who has still been involved with this committee, to see if he could take it over until the end of the school year.
Kirsten was also involved with Mabel’s Labels, one of Wilkinson’s fundraising sources. April Moon offered to look after this.
Veggie Garden: Jill Spellman will continue with this. She will also be prepping the garden.

F. Health & Safety: Sarah-Jane Gillespie had no news to report.

10. Report back/follow-up items: None to report.

11. New Business/Other items for future meeting: None to report.

12. Adjournment: The meeting was adjourned at 8:03pm.

Motion: Jill Spellman. Seconded: Martin Saxton.
