- Report on Council Election Results – John H.
• Council members are: John Abberger, Carol Bennett (vice-chair), Karen Geraci (chair), John Hykel (treasurer), Paula Weekes Kahn, Bianca Kapteyn, Catherine Lake, Ruby Lederman, Sunny Mills, April Moon, Jonathan Root (Vice-Principal), Tanya Sterioff (Principal), Jacqui Strachan, Sharon Weller (secretary) and Karen Wiseman.

• Pictures of members to be taken at next Council meeting
• Members reminded to send regrets if unable to attend – affects quorum
• Council meeting dates to alternate between Monday and Tuesday: Nov 15, Dec 12, Jan 10, Feb 13, Mar 7, April 10, May 9 and June 12.
- Principal’s Update -- Tanya
• Nov 7-11th – Grades 5 and 6 to Island school for 2 1/2 days; cost $75 per student; permission forms going out this week, about half of students are expected to attend; school will subsidize students if required
• Nov 14th – Eid Party at 6pm
• Nov 18th – Safety Day (weather permitting)
4. Treasurer’s Update – Carol B.
• Statement of Financial Position - October 18, 2005 distributed
• Chocolate sales going well; still about half the money to come in
• Direct donations going well
• Need update on t-shirts, including ones donated to sports teams, and numbers and sizes remaining for sale
• Approx $100 spent to purchase DVD player for movie nights
• Canadian Opera Co - request for $800 for performance in spring
Motion: that $800 be allocated to book Canadian Opera Company performance in May 2006

• Funding request to come for visiting authors in December: Andrea Beck (Dec 8 for primary grades) cost $749 and Eric Walters (Dec 2 for junior grades) cost $481.50 – total of $1230.50 for both authors
5. Committee Updates
i) Fundraising Committee – Sunny, Carol B.
• Pizza lunch went well
• Possible November event being planned around 90th anniversary of Wilkinson: creation of 5-10 themed baskets, tickets for sale for dinner, teachers to create historical displays, invite alumni, possible student performance (details tbc)
ii) Greening & Grounds Committee – John H
• Gardening day on Sundays – helpers welcome – to spread mulch, weed, tidy learning garden
• Maze gone
• Looking at storage shed for Kindergarten toys; approx. cost $7,000 concrete structure with steel doors; Bianca to check other sources; possible spring installation
• Deferring idea of funding soccer posts (approx $3,500)
iii) Communications Committee – Carol B.
• Meets 1st Monday of every month
• Looking for articles and contributions for newletter
• Paula’s husband is developing the website
• Question asked about a Ward representative to attend Ward mtgs and report back to Council
• November newsletter to include calendar at a glance, Council meetings, movie nights, key dates to year end
iv) Performing Arts – Bianca
• Budget for the year approx $2,400; will bring back proposal for performances
• Looking into artists to repaint murals – will bring proposal
