• Summary of possible programs; need to book 6 months in advance

ii) Greening & Grounds Committee – John H
• Last year focused on gardens; also looked at playgrounds and greening; grass maze in kindergarten area not as successful
• Grounds head and consultant did walkabout with Karen and made suggestions; maintenance big issue; put perennial bushes in front garden in Fall (lower maintenance); learning garden needs weeding and attention and some plants removed/general clean up; grass maze to be removed – move some grasses to learning gardent if possible – prepare site by removing asphalt and plant trees to provide shade
• Evergreen fund will provide $2,000? – bring proposal to Council to top up if needed
• Look at building storage shed; expensive option, but could be useful for bikes/toys storage; could also look at mural or plywood cutouts on fence; OCA possible funding source for arts
• What do teachers want: second playground? storage?- Tanya: haven’t asked, but want storage for bikes and toys, equipment – Ruth: great to have separate space, sand box, toy storage great, means toys will be used
• Need people to do yard work; Carol suggested setting dates and put in newsletter
• Question asked if learning garden being used – TDSB working on curriculum packages for teachers; lots of activities can be built around garden

iii) Communications Committee – Carol B.
• First meeting held; looking for more people on committee to write articles, do outreach activities
• Meet once per month; input for newsletter needed last week of month for next month’s newsletter; email distribution list managed by Wendy
• Put out sign on Curriculum night to sign up for committees/volunteers
• Looking for website design expertise; could count as community hours for student
• Does Wilkinson have school website? – yes, it’s just a page on TDSB website

iv) Fundraising Committee - ??
• Kim sent out note about meeting on 27th (at her house); anyone interested can attend
• Fun Fair committee needs a chair; identify date at next meeting, usually May; big community event and main fundraiser for school
• Pizza Lunch: Friday, Sept 30 – have 3 helpers signed up but could use more; kindergarten students welcome with parent accompaniment
• Movie Night: Looking at changing license to Criterion Pictures; more expensive ($650) but much more selection of movies and available earlier before general release; if door sales more than $650 35% of proceeds go to company, but may be waive clause; go with Kickin’ and Screamin’ for Oct, and see after that.
• Chocolates: 101 boxes ordered all went out; 48 more boxes ordered, so will move supplementary order up to 80 boxes total

• Executive committee up for election each year; Treasurer position still to be filled
• Committees: do hand out/sign up sheet on Curriculum Night; committees meet separately, usually once per month and provide updates at Council; most active committees are Fundraising, Greening and Grounds, Communications; funding issues come to Council for decision
